In love with the arts from an early age, Akilah Phillip knew the creative industry was where she could invest her passion. She started her career in the media industry as a journalist, but law would be her ultimate destination. She combined these two sectors and was admitted to the bar in Trinidad and Tobago. She is also the holder of a master’s degree in Entertainment Law.

As an Attorney, Akilah has used her knowledge and passion to work with creative entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations helping them negotiate, structure and maximize their intellectual property assets.

Dedicated to ensuring the value of creative products and intellectual property rights are understood, Akilah has facilitated and hosted various workshops for different facets of the entertainment and corporate sectors.

In 2015 she founded Let’s Talk Intellectual Property (LTIP) Ltd, which is a consultancy firm headquartered in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The firm specializes in intellectual property management. Through her company and social media platforms Akilah educates students and sensitizes the public about the value of intellectual property to a country’s development and economic growth.

In addition to holding the position of Chief Executive Officer of LTIP, Akilah currently operates as a Legal IP Advisor to an international corporation headquartered in Delaware. The company focuses on digital brand protection for global fortune 500 companies.

Akilah continues to use her wealth of local, regional and international experience to advocate for a greater understanding of intellectual property rights.
